Beatriz Isca

Design and Sustainability

The Netherlands

Beatriz Isca (1998) is a multidisciplinary designer and researcher passionate about reimagining the systems of today and speculating the preferred futures of tomorrow. Through her work, she investigates the possibilities for local and circular systems that place more-than-human nature at the center.

With a background in product design, soon she started questioning an industry that controls the ways we manipulate, consume, and dispose of resources. By adopting a planet-centric approach, she explores how designers can become more involved in culture and society by supporting citizens to challenge the structures that define our world.

Inspired by craft practices and post-humanistic theories, she works holistically to explore narratives that enhance the interdependence between humans and nonhuman nature. Her work is sensitive and poetic, resulting from meaningful collaborations with local communities.
